Memorial Gifts and Gifts in Honor

Home » Support » Memorial Gifts And Gifts In Honor

Gifts in honor of someone are usually made to provide special recognition for a family member, friend or colleague particularly for his or her birthday, wedding, anniversary or volunteer service.

Gifts in memory are made to recognize someone dear to the donor who has passed away and to celebrate his or her life.

In both cases, the gifts are messages that speak to the depth of emotion and the sense of connection that are an integral part of any relationship.

The National Canal Museum takes special care with such gifts. The donor is thanked and the person being honored is told about the gift and who made it. Dollar amounts are not usually revealed, only the sentiment. For gifts that memorialized the deceased, the family is notified. The names of donors and those recognized are published in our newsletter The Locktender.

By making such a gift you are not only memorializing or honoring those who deserve recognition, you are investing in a valuable community resource -- the National Canal Museum.
