Notice: Reduced 2026 Schedule

Due to planned construction on the Glendon Hill Road Bridge, the National Canal Museum will operate on a shortened schedule this year. Our 2026 season will be open from Friday, March 27 through the end of May. Public canal boat rides will not be offered during the 2026 season.

Join the National Canal Museum in Hugh Moore Park on Thursday, May 1, 2025. We have partnered with our friends from the Moving Picture Cinema and Shankweiler’s Drive-In to show a movie here in our park. This free public event will take place around 8:20pm (sunset). Our museum will be open for your enjoyment before the movie from 6pm-8pm.

May 4, 2025 marks 55 years since the National Canal Museum first opened, and 2025 also marks the 200th anniversary of the Erie Canal. Henry Fonda made his film debut in this charming rom-com. Continue reading more on the link below.

Bring your own chair and/or blankets. This is an outdoor event. We will have snacks and water available for sale in the museum before the movie.
