Come and walk along with mules, Hank and George, and their mule drivers as we take the Josiah White II canal boat out for a training run in Hugh Moore Park at noon. While we’re not yet ready to take passengers onboard for rides, you can stretch your legs on the towpath for all or part of the 45-minute journey. Along the way, our crew will regale you with tales of what it’s like to be a mule driver, both today and in the past. The mules walk at a leisurely pace of 2 mph and the total distance covered is about half a mile, so this walk is appropriate for children and adults. The walk starts and ends at the canal boat dock near the Welcome Center.
