Lehigh Drive is closed from 25th street so everyone must approach from Glendon Hill Road or Lehigh Drive from downtown (and keep an eye on our website for flooding updates – it’s been a wet start to the month!)

Join the D&L and historian Vince Hydro for an on-the-ground exploration along the Lehigh River from Jim Thorpe to Glen Onoko. On this roughly 4 mile trek we will locate, explore and discuss many landmarks from our industrial past. Some of the highlights are where the Switchback Railroad chutes once were, Lock no. 1 of the Upper Division of the Lehigh Canal, the coal pockets for Room Run Railroad, the site of the village of Lausanne. We will also cross the Coalport trestle bridge and visit the ruins of Lock 2 of the Upper Navigation amongst other sites. Come and join us on the last walk of the season. 

Length: 4 – 5 miles
Difficulty: Easy to moderate

Parking and Meet up location: We are meeting in Jim Thorpe in the parking lot behind the Jim ThorpeTrain Station.  

Note: All parking in Jim Thorpe is now by kiosk, please allow enough time to find a kiosk, pay and display their ticket in the car.
